Star Wars: Phantom Menace...You Have Been Found Wanting

I am a Star Wars fan. I love the original trilogy. I love the novels. What I do not care for is the Pre-Quels, Episodes I, II, & III. Especially Episodes I and II.I can't stand them, and I could never fully explain why I couldn't stand them to other people until I discovered this great little youtube series on the Phantom Menace.
Enjoy.

Guidelines to Make A Paradigm Shift

I received a wonderful message this morning from a friend of mine, a very talented  success coach. I thought I would share her strong words with you...Thanks Yolanda.

GUIDELINES TO MAKE THE SHIFT

Develop accurate self awareness.  Know your strengths and weaknesses we all have them.
Develop an accurate self concept.  Know you limitations and be honest with yourself.
Be HONEST.
Make the connection between choices and future  consequences.  What you think about today will effect you tomorrow.  Are they positive and progressive thoughts or negative and self limiting.
Behave in a manner that is in your best interest.  You can not take back words, actions or deeds so think before you react.
Become self-protective and self-determined.  Protect yourself from those who say you will never make it, your crazy, you need to stop that craziness.
For them to ….
Be autonomous
Be self responsible
Be honest
Maintain integrity
To be true to oneself.
Identify core values and personal desires
Be self caring
Set boundaries.
Make conscious decisions
Reprogram your self conscious mind

The Hazard of a Paradigm Shift
Any new habit is difficult until it is a learned behavior.  Make your habit part of your character.
You may experience a decrease in your sense of security and comfort level.  Being uncomfortable means you are stretching your capacity.
You may experience an increase in fear or anxiety.  It is natural but you believe in yourself and it will subside with each little success.
You will make mistakes.  Fail forward.
Others may react negatively.  You are growing and some people won't be able to understand.  Love them anyway.

AFFIRMATIONS
I accept problems as challenges to my awareness and its development.
Purge myself of all shame, blame or guilt.
My current goals and objectives motivate me, so I don’t procrastinate.
I see things through to their logical conclusion.
I do not allow personal comparisons to affect my self esteem. I avoid comparing myself to others.
I accept myself totally and unconditionally.
I stand up for my opinions and convictions.

Announcing My First Ebook - about Comic Books?

I finally finished writing and putting together my first ebook....Let me just me pause there a second and say "wow".

I have been talking about writing books that speak from my experiences for so long, but as many out there know, talking isn't doing. I had a lot of good times when I was retailing comic books, and I learned a great many lessons ,that for me were sometimes expensive.

Now I feel a mixture of joy and relief. One, for knowing that I completed something very important to me, and two, because I can now move on to my next project.

But today is about this ebook, so... http://bit.ly/ComicBiz

Bad Snow Day Movies - Avoid at all costs

If you are not in the Washington DC area right now, you may be unaware of the mountain of snow that we had dropped on us in the last couple weeks. Anyone saying that climate change is a "myth" needs only watch the news footage of usually moderate winter Virginia buried in snow.

One of the things that inevitably happens when you are forced to spend time in the house, aside from catching up on work is that you end up watching more TV. For me that was a journey into my distant past watching a movie that my mind had fooled me into thinking that I liked.
Isn't it funny how when you look back on your past there's a kind of veil over it all that makes those bygone years seem more "innocent" or "simple". Well I had the veil yanked viciously from my mind's eye this weekend so I thought I would prevent another tragedy in case anyone else had the dumb idea to watch...Under The Rainbow from 1983 starring Carrie Fisher and Chevy Chase.

I spent so much time thinking how I had seen this mess when I was a kid, and aside from Princess Leia walking around in a bra and half slip for 10 minutes in the film, it was the worst thing I have watched in a long time. And this is from a guy who had just finished watching a copy of "The Omega Man" with Charleton Heston, hoping it would redeem Will Smith's "I Am Legend" for me...It didn't.

Under The Rainbow, is about a midget or little person in WWII 40s going to a small hotel in Hollywood and becoming a part of the making of the 'Wizard of Oz'. So far it at least sound interesting right? Well from there it gets weird. There's a midget Nazi, a European royal super paranoid about getting assassinated, a string of small dogs that get killed in several unfunny ways, and about 200 other little people that act like their in a fusion of 'Animal House' and 'Caligula'.

To say it just kept getting worse is an understatment. After the long adventure where our little person Rollo, whom we've followed to Hollywood, has spent most of the movie's screen time being elsewhere...It all comes back to where we began at the beginning, when before Rollo left home he took a fall into a giant crate while trying to put a radio aerial back in place. The twist? The whole movie is in Rollo's head!! Even the vast number of scenes that he was never actually involved in! What the hell is that about?

BTW I mentioned 'Omega Man' because as I said that Will Smith movie left me so disappointed that I heard that this take on 'I Am Legend' was better...Let me save you the trouble. Piece. Of. Crap.

Aside from the villains who were a group of white afroed albinos with Ray Ban sunglasses on, who I might add looked more irritated by sunlight, than hurt by it. These guys blame technology for the plague that killed or mutated folks. Then add to that Mr. Heston, shooting every damn thing in sight. Pure Crap.

My dad recommended it to me but afterward I figured out why...This movie featured an attractive black woman who up til then I had only seen as an older woman, very conservative looking and proper - Rosalind Cash. Some may remember her from her appearances on 'The Cosby Show'. Well Ms. Cash showed off her lovely lady lumps in this film and I guess for my father that was enough to call it a classic.

Great Inspiration!

I know this movie is a few years old but you can't deny the power of this speech.

Massive Action - More than just Buzz Words

When I was building another business a few years back I became a student of network marketing. I watched videos, listened to tapes, and read books galore on how to grow a business and one of the concepts that they bandied around was "Massive Action."

Massive Action is this state of activity where you're supposed to just go balls to the wall prospecting, exposing, etc. and if your action is massive enough you reach a "saturation" point where your business grows exponentially. I explain all this to say that I never fully got the concept before now. Sure I put in some hard work, but then I would take a few days off, and then have to get geared back up into a good work flow.

Now I know that for me massive action is putting a plan together and consistently working my plan. Everyday, all day, I'm making things happen and connecting with great new people.

Here are a couple new videos that I have been meaning to do for months, and I finally just said "Do it, Scott!"
Enjoy.

Alone At Last

Today is the day when my daughter goes to day care for a few hours in the morning. My sons are in school all day and for these three days a week my daughter joins them in her quest for education outside the house. Being a stay at home dad and a home business builder can be trying at times to separate "work time" from "family time" but when everyone is gone it becomes clear what you should be doing.

I say should because taking care of business when you live, eat, breathe, play, and work from the house could mean a laundry list of tasks. I could do the laundry before it piles up and we have no towels or clean undies. The dishes from last night are stacked to the ceiling. I've got 5 calls to return to potential customers plus I need to make calls on new potential customers to put them in my pipeline. And on and on and on...

I'm not complaining. I can't remember who said it but, life is all about the journey and as hard as things may get, as tired as I may feel, as long as I don't give up I'll get where I want to go.
