I was just reminded of something about network marketing, and presenting an opportunity in general that has taken a moment to sink in, but makes perfect sense in retrospect.
In my excitement over a new venture, as most will probably attest, when I tell a friend about what I'm doing I tend to go on information overload. Trying desperately to impart not only the details of my new business, but also the emotions that I was feeling when I first saw it. What you usually end up with in that moment after you've spilled your guts and are left breathless searching your friend's eyes for the excitement you know just has to be there, is a "No."
Its not that your friend thinks it won't work, necessarily, its that they see you blathering on for ten minutes, and think that's what they're going to have to do to be a success. So when sharing a business, I find that 'Less is More.' I let people know I'm excited, and I want to share this great opportunity with them, but that's when I plug them into the system. Let your system do the heavy lifting, along with a supportive upline.
As an example, remember back to the original "Matrix" movie. Try to forget the sequels. That first movie was groundbreaking. For years afterward other films would steal concepts, and camera tricks from that movie. Now if you wanted someone to get the same sense of wonder and excitement from the reveal of "What the Matrix is" do you simply rattle off all the plot points, trying to describe the effects and so on? Or do you simply show them the movie?
"He's beginning to believe."
