I met my wife Kim in high school. We weren't sweethearts or anything as cliche as that, but we did get to be best friends. In fact in 11th grade Kim and I decided to become play siblings, and since I had no brothers and she no sisters, that's what we were. She was my "brother" Kim and I her "sister."
Everyone in our families thought we were dating but we discouraged those thoughts and assured everyone that "we're just friends." We got to saying it so much that when we actually became more than friends there was a little apprehension at having to endure the round of "told you so" from the people around us. But throwing caution to the wind and deciding that love was more important than pride we became an item.
Fast forward to 13 years later and I could not be happier. We are still very much in love and the envy of our friends because of our caring and affectionate relationship.
Kim is a technical minded professional. She got her degree in computer science and has been using it to earn the lion's share of our household income ever since. When we were married I had two jobs, and I spent most our marriage working at various jobs. But since our last child was born it made more sense for us financially, for me to stay home and take care of the kids while I work on building a business.
Having your wife work while you stay home for a man can be a challenging feeling. We're taught from an early age to be the bread winner, and if you're not, well let's just say it affects your manhood. The one thing I will say about Kim is I have never gotten that kind of attitude from her, if I ever felt anything like less than a man because of our situation, it came from people outside our relationship.
The best I can describe is that Kim works with computers for her job. At least that's what I say when people ask. She loves what she does, but looks forward to my business endeavors eventually paying off and buying her the extravagant lifestyle she deserves.
...Well, I'd like to continue now but my son's friend just came over and I need to get some more work done. I'll try to finish my introductions today though.
